Alyssa Jarosh teaches sixth grade science at West Salem Middle. She graduated from Viterbo University with a degree in elementary education. She earned her Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction at National Louis University.
Other professional experience related to the courses you teach: I had the opportunity to travel to Russia with my former 3rd grade teacher, Francine Jones and former OEC director, Barb Thompson. Traveling across the world to teach in a science camp was an unbelievable experience that pushed me far out of my comfort zone. I am a better teacher because of this.
Why did you become a teacher? I love to work with kids & people and love to learn!
What do you love most about the West Salem School District? It's my home! Class of 2002
Favorite classroom memory: I laugh everyday, it's too hard to just pick one, however, I'd have to say... The moments that take your breath away, the kindness, compassion and strength a child can display...
Favorite quote:
"To the world you may be just one person, but to one person you may be the world!"
A little more... Basically, my entire family is here at WSES. I have a niece or nephew in grades 5,4,3,2, and 1. My mother, Cheryl Kammel, taught here for 30ish years and now assists a 4K room. My dad, Darrel Kammel, drives a bus. My aunt Lois and my aunt Mary work in the building as well!
