Referendum 2024

The School Board approved a resolution at their August 21st board meeting to place two referendum questions on the November 5, 2024 ballot. The first question asks voters to exceed the district revenue limit by $3,500,000 on a recurring basis for operational expenses and the second asks voters for $28,000,000 for capital improvements including the construction of a career and technical education addition at the high school with a fitness center, construction of a gymnasium addition and renovations at the elementary school and other district-wide capital maintenance.

After conducting two surveys, a facility study, and receiving recommendations from district staff, the community developed a list of “needs” for the district and offerings that they felt would benefit our students and the district for the foreseeable future.  The School Board then voted to place the two referendum questions on the ballot.

The School District of West Salem is deeply committed to our students, staff, families, and the community. We strive to provide high-quality educational opportunities that empower our students to succeed while ensuring our district facilities foster a positive, welcoming environment for all. As we look to the future, we focus on excellence in education and maintaining spaces that inspire learning and collaboration.
